Maybe useful if you're brand new to vegetarianism and already have some cookbooksAugust 4, 2010 Silea(Portland, OR) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been a vegetarian for over a third of my life at this point, and VT doesn't offer any info i didn't know when i was just starting to toy with the idea in my teen years. Now, i admit, i grew up in California, where vegetarianism is pretty commonplace, so maybe there's lots of interesting stuff in these magazines if you're from a less veggie-friendly region.
Worse yet, the recipes are awful. I tried a couple and they came out totally bland. Then i realized the recipes almost never call for salt. This is one of those 'if you're a vegetarian, you must be health-obsessed' oversights, maybe, so i started adding salt when it seemed appropriate. Turns out, all the recipes i tried are bland and boring, even with salt. Some other reviews suggest that the recipes are merely inconsistent, in that some are great and some are awful, but so far i've only tried the awful ones.
The only thing i've actually gleaned from this magazine in the past year is how to freeze a few veggies, but i'm sure i could have found that same information online when i needed it.

Great introductionJune 16, 2010 Judith A. Russeff My husband and I are rather new to vegetarian and vegan cooking. This publication has made learning the tricks to make cooking easy, not to mention, enjoyable. Ninety nine point nine percent of the dishes I have cooked have been delicious. I always look forward to the next issue. Good work!
Among the bestMay 29, 2010 Ginny Lavender(Fort Worth, Texas USA) I've been subscribing to this magazine for several years now, although I'm not vegetarian. The reason is not just because of the beautiful photography and creative recipes, which I would put among the best of the food magazines, but also because it's interesting to see the point of view. Some recipes are for vegetarians, others for vegans and lately there are some gluten-free suggestions to match the current trend. The magazine itself seems very open-minded, but some of the letters come from food police types who want everything in the magazine to meet their particular food rules. My only objection is to some of the questionable advice about health benefits of particular foods, and lately I find this in most magazines.
I can eat it all!May 27, 2010 Seaweede(Pittsford, NY United States) I love that I can open a magazine and EAT everything inside it. It's ALL vegetarian!! The recipes are clearly written out and the photos are incredible!
Helpful IdeasMay 16, 2010 Traveling Wife Okay, there are a lot of ads, but the pictures and recipes give me ideas every month. I appreciate VT's efforts to provide so many vegan recipes and alternatives, too. Of course, I'm not interested in every article, but I often find them interesting and helpful. All things considered, I think it's totally worth what I paid.
